Parent Education ~ Crozier Middle School

Parent Education

Crozier Parent Education

The single greatest influence in student achievement is the parent.  Children whose parents are active in their child’s education are generally more successful and have fewer behavior problems.  Parents, who carefully check their child’s homework for completeness and correctness, are more knowledgeable in what their child is learning.  Crozier Middle School urges all parents to take an active role in their child’s education.

At the beginning of the school year parents should meet with every teacher involved with their child’s education.  Know what is expected of the child and the parent.  Know what the parent can do at home to support the education of the child.  Know what will be taught throughout the year and be prepared to help your child understand the new material.

You can see what your child is required to know to pass his/her grade level at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/.

Dear RSP Students and Parents,
Welcome to Crozier! Our RSP staff is here to provide academic support, primarily in Math and ELA, but will provide support in other core subjects as needed. We have 3 RSP teachers, as well as RSP aides. We will be working collaboratively with the general education teachers to ensure that all RSP students have a successful year here atCrozier.

We will be pulling students out of class, when necessary, to work with them in Learning Center (room L200), as well as pushing into the general education classes to provide support to RSP students there. We also are available to assist RSP students with special projects, and to provide accommodations on tests. RSP students are encouraged to take tests in Learning Center, if they need support.

In September, every Crozier student will receive an agenda/planner. Please monitor your child’s homework completion by checking their agendas daily. Additionally, parents and students can monitor grades in multiple classes on Jupitergrades. Students will receive their login info from their General Ed. teachers soon.

We are very excited to work with all of our RSP students, and are here if you have any questions or concerns!

About Crozier Middle School

Crozier Middle School is located just west of Inglewood City Hall and south of the Inglewood Courthouse. Situated on the site of the very first Inglewood school, Crozier is an important part of Inglewood city history.

Crozier Middle School again made history when the ribbon was cut on $28 million worth of new construction—in other words, a brand new school! The new Crozier Middle School is a 2-story, 6-building complex containing 44 classrooms, science labs, a gymnasium, an administration building, a library/multimedia center, a cafeteria-style kitchen, an amphitheater, a covered lunch shelter, new furnishings, and sports fields.

But the good news doesn’t end there—Crozier Middle School students made record academic growth on the Academic Performance Index (API). In a single year they raised their API score by 49 points, far beyond their state target of 11—and the largest single-year growth that Crozier has ever achieved. As a result, Crozier ranks 9 out of 10 among similar California schools. Crozier’s test scores improved yet again.

Students can take part in Crozier’s award-winning band program, which includes beginning band, advanced band, Magnet symphonic band, field trips, and local band competitions. As a part of the Annenberg middle school program, many students attend two plays per year at the Mark Taper Forum. In addition, Kaiser Permanente doctors serve as mentors to students interested in the medical field. Other programs and activities available to Crozier students include football, basketball, soccer, Gifted and Talented, English Language Development, after school programs, and fine arts.
