Dance
Crozier’s Dance team is a competitive dance team consisting of girls in grades 7-8th. They are trained in choreography and technique and are exposed to many genres of dance such as:
- Ballet
- Hip-hop
- Jazz
- Lyrical
We meet daily during the school day and one evening after school and some Saturdays.
Everyone must audition to be on the team. The auditions consist of a dance routine and n individual interviews which includes grade check and teacher’s recommendations.
During the school year, each dancer must pass all classes and maintain a 2.0 semester GPA in order to participate. Grade checks are conducted at least two times during each season. Any dancers not meeting requirements are placed on probation and given a mentor for tutoring.
The dance program is demanding both in time and talent. Team members are held responsible for setting an example for others in their school spirit, leadership, and commitment to their team.
During the school year they participate in many community and school’s activities. You can catch them sending Holiday Spirits during their annual Christmas program performance at the senior citizens community centers or performing at a school assembly.
Every year we are busy preparing for the 6th grade articulation (for the incoming 7th grader visit to our school) and visiting many elementary school campus to audition many incoming 7th graders who are interested in joining the dance team.
The team received two 1st place trophies in their division and they were also awarded the showmanship award during the regional Dance Competition this year 2016 at Downey High School.
Our school year ends with a Year End Showcase performance, which celebrates the music and dances of our year at Crozier. This year’s showcase is Monday, May 23 @ 6:00 pm at Croziers Auditorium.
All dance students are directed and coached by Ms. Cheryl Alexander.
